The Maker Behind the Twisted Strands

I come from a family of farmers, ranchers, and horsemen. Since my ancestors came to Colorado, I am a fourth-generation rancher and horseman. My family has been able to continue this legacy. We now run 30-35 head of Red Angus cows in our cow-calf operation.

I have had horses my entire life. Beginning with horse shows, I transitioned to cutting, going on a multiple day long horseback camps, and working cattle every year. While at Colorado State University I earned a certification as a Western Riding Instructor. I rodeoed in high school, college, amateur and WPRA rodeos. My hubby was a team roper. My family currently has 3 horses which we continue to use for working cattle and trail rides.

Continuing the legacy, I was in 4-H for ten years, and FFA for 4 years. At my FFA chapter I held several offices, received a Gold in Diversified Livestock with my horse, sheep, cattle, and hay SAE project. My daughter Brooke is continuing the legacy in Agriculture, being the fifth generation in Colorado agriculture.  She was her chapter president two years, and is completing her master’s degree in Agricultural Education,

After graduating from CSU, I worked for five years in Agricultural Journalism at Record Stockman/Record Horseman as an editor. Eventually, I taught at public schools and retired from teaching at the elementary level. Now I create quality tack for horsemen out of natural mohair. I enjoy riding in the arena, trail, or working cattle. There is no greater thing for the inside of man (or woman) than a horse.
